This talk is ideally teams of professional software developers, engineering managers and tech leads. You may derive value from watching this talk if you’re experiencing a recurring lethargy and pain when you’re deploying, an inability to make improvements in your quality or if you are facing constant developer churn.

Inspiration for the Talk
Most engineers in the industry are self-taught using online materials. A vast majority of teams these developers join have never seen a high performing team. There are countless books that simplify what you need to do as a team to be successful. The recipe is simple.
Yet we don’t follow it.
It rarely gets followed.
Most advice is bad. But even when it isn’t— change is still hard. Why is that?
Even when faced with bad advice, what can we do to improve?
That is the inspiration for this talk. I’m sharing my finding from working in, working on and coaching hundreds of engineers and dozens of teams.
Why Domain-driven?
It needed a catchy title. I think high-performing may be better but it’s a bit wordy. It could easily be replaced with Lean. Pragmatic. No-nonsense. Self-taught. Flexible. Product and Engineering.
The hard truth is: there is no substitute for putting in the work. A good team knows how to:
Set aside their egos
Put the business and clients first
Focus on their wellbeing
Push back on unrealistic requests
Work with management to improve their business-product-engineering relationship
Teach the business how to produce better requirements
Balance business value provision with developer experience investment
These conversations are hard. They can be stressful. They can be annoying.
You may want to avoid them. Or hide behind a plethora of project management and faux-productivity tools.
It’s time to build a bridge instead of burning them. I’ll teach you how.
The slides will act as a buffet menu. The real value will be in your presence and Q&A. If you can, please set an intention to join us live. See you there.
